Ron Taylor

Mr. Taylor is Vice President and General Counsel of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, a division of Health Care Service Corporation (“HCSC”).  In this role, he manages a staff that provides legal services to support the varied business activities of HCSC’s Texas Division.  Mr. Taylor has also served as a director and officer of numerous subsidiary and affiliated corporations of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, and currently serves on the Board of the Caring For Children Foundation of Texas and the national Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association Legal Department Cooperative.

 

Mr. Taylor is also active in the health insurance industry, serving on the Boards of Directors of the Texas Association of Life & Health Insurers and the Texas Association of Health Plans.  He is a past chairman of both associations.  Mr. Taylor has also served on the Board of Directors of the Texas Association of Business.

 

In addition, Mr. Taylor is active in the Texas legal community where he is a member of the Boards of Directors of both the Statewide and DFW Chapter of the Texas General Counsel Forum.  Mr. Taylor was the DFW Chapter’s 2006 recipient of the Robert H. Dedman Award for Ethics and Law.  Mr. Taylor was also the recipient of the 2008 Best Corporate Counsel Award given by The Dallas Business Journal. He is also a member of the Texas General Counsel Group and the Corporate Advisory Board to the Texas Access to Justice Commission. 

 

Mr. Taylor holds a B.A. in economics and business administration from Cornell College and a J.D. from Southern Methodist University School of Law.  He retired as a Lt. Col. in the U.S. Army Reserve.
