The Richardson Chamber of Commerce and the City of Richardson established a joint economic development effort in 1984, known as the Richardson Economic Development Partnership (REDP).  The mission of the REDP is to:

  1. Attract capital investment in the form of new businesses and corporate expansions and relocations to Richardson  
  2. Assist in bringing both high wage and quality jobs to Richardson
  3. Assist local corporate clients to expand their operations Richardson
  4. Improve the retail shopping and dining experience throughout Richardson

Highlights of recent accomplishments:

  • 2007-2008: 102 corporate business expansions and relocations that resulted in over 12,800 jobs for the Richardson economy and 4.2 million square feet of additional office and flex space occupancy
  • Worked with Blue Cross & Blue Shield on their new 1 million sq.ft. headquarters campus at Galatyn Park which will accomodate up to 5,000 employees
  • Working with DART in support of the Cotton Belt light rail route, to ensure rail access to DFW Airport and a DART rail station at The University of Texas at Dallas, in NW Richarsdson
  • Assisting efforts to transform 100 acre Collins Technology Park and 1 million SF of existing buildings along Central Expressway into a premier data center location.
  • Marketing initiatives that resulted in the redevelopment and remodeling of 10 targeted shopping centers, construction of 4 new shopping centers
  • Marketing efforts added over 70 new restaurants in 2007-2009
  • Supported efforts for 3 new mixed-use/transit-oriented developments:
    • Eastside, (completed) $90M upscale mixed-use apartment /retail/office development
    • The Venue, (completed) a mid-rise 280-unit upscale apartment complex with 2 new restaurants in Galatyn Park Urban area
    • Brick Row, (under constructions) a $140M TOD development with retail, 500 upscale mid-rise apartments, 150 townhomes and 300 condominiums next to the Spring Valley DART station.
  • In total over $350M in new retail-related developments since 2004.
