This annual event, presented by the Education Committee, honors new teachers entering the Richardson Independent School District (RISD). Since 1958, our area businesses, organizations and individuals have expressed their strong interest in maintaining quality education for the students, faculty and staff of RISD by supporting the annual New Teachers Luncheon.

The 51st annual New Teachers Luncheon was Wednesday, August 12, 2009.  The luncheon was a tremendous success!  Over 200 community and business leaders hosted over 350 new teachers to the Richardson Independent School District at the Renaissance Hotel Dallas - Richardson.

Author and Gen Y expert, Nancy Barry gave an impassioned and inspirational keynote speech on "The Power of You," and greatly illustrated what teachers mean to the community.

Over 200 tote bag items and door prizes were donated to truly show the community's support for the school district and it's newest teachers.  Thanks to all of the sponsors, volunteers, staff and community leaders who turned out in support.  I'm sure this was a very special event the teachers will not soon forget!
