Who We Are
The Richardson Chamber of Commerce (RCC) is North Texas’ premier chamber of commerce and serves as the voice of the local Richardson business community, focused on driving business success. Accredited as a 5-star chamber by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the RCC is in the top 1 percent of chambers in the nation, recognizing high quality, expertise and strong leadership. The Chamber serves 400 active members and is closely aligned with its local sister organization, the Tech Titans.
The Richardson Chamber of Commerce has been driving business success in Richardson for more than 75 years. Times have changed since we opened our doors, but our goal remains the same: to serve as the cornerstone of economic and community development in the city of Richardson.
There’s a reason we are accredited in the top 1% of chambers of commerce in the country with a 5-star rating by the US Chamber of Commerce--twice.
Economic development is the cornerstone of what we do for the community. The Chamber is staff dedicated to marketing Richardson to companies looking to relocate their businesses, especially those companies who hire workers with advanced skill sets. Why? Companies bring jobs, especially high-paying jobs, which give Richardson residents a higher standard of living. At the same time, successful businesses create a strong tax base that can be used in our city for quality roads, parks and resources for our kids’ schools.
The Chamber directly influenced Richardson becoming the Telecom Corridor and bringing a myriad of technology companies to Richardson in the 70s, 80s and 90s. During the tech bust in the early 2000s, Chamber leadership focused on recovery and on industry diversification in Richardson for the future, particularly in finance and insurance. A shining example is the $1.5 billion mixed-use development at CityLine. Diversification means security. We're planning ahead.
The Chamber works to both bring in new retail businesses and revitalize current shopping centers and restaurants in Richardson. The last 15 years has brought improvements to 10 shopping centers with 58 restaurant openings in the last year alone. Movement continues along US 75, particularly in the Heights Shopping Center with the addition of the Alamo Drafthouse and Restaurant Row, not to mention the area around CityLine.
The Chamber has educated Richardson business and civic leaders since 1985. Our Leadership Richardson (LR) program is a shining example of building community leadership. More than 1000 students have graduated from the program, which includes the majority of the city council and RISD Board of Trustees, not to mention small, medium and large businesses.
The Chamber provides members the benefit of visibility and connection. Studies show that consumers are more likely to do business with businesses who have shown they support the community through Chamber membership and sponsorship.
The most profitable connections in business come from relationships, and the Chamber provides the most opportunity to associate with influential and connected people than any other source in Richardson. Being engaged is the best way to connect with decision-makers.
Public policy: We listen to legislators, and they listen to us. Our relationships mean that we understand and influence topics that impact the success of your business. The Chamber influenced gaining tax breaks and protecting the future for businesses during Texas' legislative sessions. The Chamber also produces a score card for members about how their legislators voted during the session.
Richardson continues to attract international interest because of the efforts of its dedicated international business development program. Richardson ranks third in the Americas for inbound foreign investment, according to fDi Magazine.
If you haven’t experienced the excitement and benefits of chamber membership, we encourage you to start the dialog. Connect with us on social media or join us at one of our events. We have the tools to help you succeed.
